Having said that this game is not “bad”, its simply not a worthy succesor, games liek the UFO: After series or UFO Extraterrestrials stay more to the roots of Xcom than this game. In the old XCOM you could throw your guys at the enemys, that relentlessly attacked, breaking down mission after mission, killing waves of these assholes, it was your decission to make, but you atleast had the chance to ignore missions because your squad was wounded or you simply had too much to do, here they force your hand. This forced deciding has nothign to do with skill.Įven as I finished every mission on excellent I was loosing countrys, I even read online that you can reduce panic with destroying the alien base, but as I said.my alloys suddendly vanished and with no new UFO’s I couldn’t bring new in. I really hate the alien abduction stuff, the random nature of these missions gives me a high paniced land with the reward of some freaking soldier I don’t need, because I had yet to loose even one, or I have two low panicked states that have huge money rewards or more scientists/engineers, so I either waste my time to hold onto a land, that might just cut the funding anyway or I get what I desperatly need.
In the original you could come back out of the deepest hellhole, where all your countrys where overrun, but you could finance yourself with enough engineers and building stuff to sell it, this is no longer a possibility.ģ.Time Units, this is something you can’t just ignore, time units where the bread and butter of battle, managing your soldiers the most efficent way, I wanted to rob trought mud with my guys, having to decide if I make one shot counting or just spray my enemys with bullets and grenades and hope for the best.Ĥ.Alloys and Eridium, maybe I just had bad luck, but in my playtrought I just managed to shoot down two small UFO’s and after that the big ones showed up, which where to big for my one interceptor to shoot down, than somehow I went from having +100 alloys down to just one (might have been a bug) so I could no longer make anything, no weapons, no armor, no key, no ship upgrades. Panic: It makes no sense that the funding would be cut, simply because there is panic, in the original funding was withdrawn, when the country was overrun from the aliens, placing aliens in the countrys goverment and establishing a base, you had the chance to get that back, when you were good enough, here it seems you loose it once and its gone(only played one game so far and stopped after like 6 hours)Ģ.No real managment of ressources, yes you still can sell UFO components and Corpses, but you can’t seel your own equipment, unless you get some random task to deliver some items. This Game has several problems, that I think we should not ignore.ġ. Sadly this is the first Review I can’t agree with you, they should have made the original games just with better graphics and kill all the bugs that haunted the late xcom and terror of the deep tree, where you could destroy your game with researching stuff in the wrong order.
